It had initially planned to launch domestic operations in Georgia between Tbilisi and Kutaisi Kopitnari (KUT) last year but has not yet done so. Air Caucasus (ACY) will compete with Georgian Airways (GEI) and Fly Georgia (9Y, Tbilisi Lochini (TBS)) which already both operate with similar business models.

August 2013: Air Caucasus (ACY) launched operations with Tbilisi to Antalya, Turkey on Sunday, August 18.

Future flights would include Istanbul Atatürk and Astana followed by Kiev, Minsk International 2, Tashkent Yuzhny, Moscow, St Petersburg and, possibly, Samara Kurumoch in September 2013.

Air Caucasus (ACY) co-founders include A-Sonic Aerospace Limited, a Singaporean firm.

Air Caucasus (ACY) will compete with Georgian Airways ((IATA) Code: A9) (GEI) and FlyGeorgia (IATA) Code: 9Y) (FGE), both also based in Tbilisi and both operate with a similar business model.

September 2013: Air Caucasus (ACY) Director General, George Kodua, says lingering political tensions between Georgia and Russia are obstructing his airline's plans to start flights to Moscow. According to the "Central Asia Aero News," Air Caucasus (ACY) says that in response to a recent application to Moscow to start charter flights there, the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency, Rosaviatsiya, demanded to see additional confirmations from the Georgian Civil Aviation Administration (GCAA), a request the (GCAA) said it could not fulfil owing to a lack of diplomatic relations between the two countries. “We wrote to Moscow prior to receive an official letter from the Georgian side, stating we have already received permission from the Georgian side, but they require additional documentation and hinted that the case should be seen in a political light,” Mr Kodua stated.

In 2008, Georgia fought a five-day long war against Russia (along with the separatist Republic of South Ossetia and the Republic of Abkhazia), following which diplomatic ties between the two ex-Soviet states were broken off.

October 2013: Aeroflot (ARO) is planning to start operating to Georgia again five years after the short war between Georgia and Russia. It is currently waiting for negotiations between the two countries to conclude, regarding the traffic rights allowing (ARO) to restore connectivity between Moscow Sheremetyevo and Tbilisi. (ARO) plans to begin flights from Moscow to Tbilisi from next March on a daily basis using A320-200s. Both S7 Airlines (SBR) and Georgian Airways (GEI) already operate services between Moscow Domodedovo and Moscow Vnukovo and the Georgian airports of Batumi, Kutaisi, and Tblisi. In the meantime, Air Caucasus (ACY) also has plans to launch flights to Moscow but so far (ACY) has not received any response from Moscow regarding traffic rights according to its (CEO), George Kodua. Air Caucasus (ACY) already offers scheduled charter flights to Kiev Borispol, Donetsk, and Aktau.

Air Caucasus (ACY) serves 3 countries, 4 destinations and 3 routes.
