(AFA) IS NOW THE MAJORITY SHAREHOLDER INCREASING ITS STAKE FROM 11.84% TO 35% IN EXCHANGE FOR A +$69 MILLION CASH INJECTION. (AFA) IS NOW (AFR)'S "STRATEGIC, COMMERCIAL, & TECHNICAL PARTNER." AFRICAN FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS, INCLUDING AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT BANK WILL HOLD 38% STAKE, THE COMBINED SHARE OF 11 NATIONS (SENEGAL, IVORY COAST, BENIN, CHAD, CONGO, MALI, BURKINA FASO, CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC, MAURITANIA, NIGER, & TOGO) WILL DROP FROM 68.44% TO 22%. (AFR) CURRENTLY OPERATES 1 LONG-HAUL AIRPLANE AND HAS 4,200 EMPLOYEES. ALTHOUGH AIR FRANCE (AFA) OFFERED TO PUT A BIG STAKE IN THE AIRLINE, IT WAS ON CONDITION THAT THE NEW COMPANY GAIN A MONOPOLY ON CERTAIN ROUTES, WHICH WAS UNACCEPTABLE TO SOME OF THE ASSOCIATED AFRICAN GOVERNMENTS.
