March 2009: Plans to acquire 747-400 and 777-200 airplanes to operate dedicated Hajj and Umrah charter flights from its base at Jeddah.

Umrah passengers are to be transported for eight months of the year and Hajj passengers for three months of the year.

The required employment prerequisites for Flight Crew (FC) and Cabin Attendants (CA) are:

1. Captains (FC): 747-400 or 777:

a. Total time: 4,000 hours, of which: PIC Jet time with Commercial Air carrier operations: 2,000 hours, of which : PIC Time on type: 1,000 hours.

b. Fluency in English. Current on type, maxumum age 58 at the time of joining.

2. Co-Pilots (FC): 747-400 or 777:

a. Total time: 1,500 hours of which: Time on type with Commercial Air carrier Operations: 500 hours.

b. Fluency in English. Current on type, maximum age 58 at the time of joining.

3. Cabin Attendants (CA):

October 2009: According to K S Ramkumar of the "Arab News" (http://www.arabnews.com), the Jordan General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) awarded an operating license to AlWafeer Air (ALR), a specialized Saudi charter carrier, to operate Haj and Umrah flights.

The (GACA) stated: "We chose to grant a charter operating license to AlWafeer (ALR) only after we were fully satisfied that it had complied with all (GACA) regulations and requirements in order to obtain the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) and had the ability to operate charters for Hadj and Umrah pilgrims, (GACA) President, Abdullah M N Rehaimi told reporters at a ceremony here.

AlWafeer Air (ALR) will transport pilgrims from Algeria, Niger, Senegal, Ghana, Mali, Kazakhstan, Sudan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Iran, Syria, Jordan, Turkey, Egypt, and some European countries. We hope to cover all Islamic countries with a bigger fleet in the next three years, said Adnan A Dabbagh, President & CEO, AlWafeer Air (ALR).

We are working toward operating the first pilgrim charter from Pakistan on October 20, he said, adding that the airline would commence operations with three 747-400 airplanes and soon increase the number of airplanes to eight.

The aim of AlWafeer Air (ALR) is to set the standard of service for pilgrims with safety, reliability and on-time performance, Dabbagh said, adding that the airline would outsource all its required services and directly employ pilots (FC) and in-flight personnel. The result will be partnership with the service providers and the ability to select the best service providers while concentrating on the core business of providing pilgrims with the best service, he added.

On the impact of the global downturn on the aviation sector worldwide, Rehaimi said the Kingdom had acted well in advance, taking into account the need to change its business model to ensure better performance with emphasis on the interests of shareholders, airlines and passengers.

ADNAN DABBAGH, PRESIDENT & CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CEO), EX- EXECUTIVE VP OPERATIONS, SAUDI ARABIAN AIRLINES (SVA).
March 2009: With well over 40 years experience in the airline industry, Mr Adnan Dabbagh has climbed the management ladder all the way to Executive Vice President of Operations for the prestigious Saudia Arabian Flag Carrier, Saudi Arabian Airlines (SVA).

His great achievements at (SVA) included:
• Masterminding the (SVA) team to negotiate the “deal of the century”, whereby 61 new airplanes comprising 747s, MD11s, 777s and MD-90s, were bought, accepted, integrated and replaced the old (SVA) fleet.
• Being instrumental and playing a major role in establishing four successful business offset companies of which (SVA) was a major shareholder:
• AEC (Advanced Electronics Company) where he was also Chairman.
• Al Salam Aircraft Company where he was also Chairman.
• MEPC (Middle East Propulsion Center).
• AACC (Aircraft Accessories and Component Company).
• Heading the Operation and Maintenance program for the Royal and VIP fleets.
• Heading the complete process for purchasing and integrating a new Airbus fleet and the respective full in-house maintenance, engineering and overhaul capabilities program for this new fleet.
• Decreasing reliance and dependence on external expertise, by personally supervising and implementing a complete manning and manpower development program in the Technical Services Division leading to (FAA) certification. This legacy has left (SVA) as a stand-alone (FAA) repair station, currently repairing over >90% of its large fleet components within the in-house capability repair program.
