Air North (AND), Yukon's Airline is a regionally based carrier providing service within the Yukon and between the Yukon and British Columbia, Alberta, NW Territories, and Alaska. Like their northern counterparts, Canadian North Airlines (CNN) and First Air (BRS), (AND) has a First Nations ownership component and provides service from its territorial region to southern gateways. (AND) is headquartered in the Yukon and has most of its infrastructure, mobile assets, and its employees based there as well. Scheduled services from and to the Yukon, as well as within the Yukon are the mainstay of its business with cargo being an essential component of its scheduled route traffic. Charter flying makes an important contribution to its operation, in that it provides valuable incremental airplane utilization and revenue.

February 1977: Air North (AND) was founded on February 1, 1977 by Joseph Sparling and Tom Wood. (AND) initially operated a charter service primarily in support of the mining industry. (AND) commenced operations with one Cessna 206, and over the next decade, operated on wheels, floats, and skis with many airplane types, including the Cessna 150, 172, 185, 206, and 337; the De Havilland Beaver, Otter, and Caribou; the Britten Norman Islander; the Beech 18 and 80, and the Douglas DC-3 and DC-4. Scheduled services within the Yukon and between the Yukon and Alaska were started in the mid 1980's and in 1996, the company began to replace its piston powered fleet with turbo props.

November 2001: Plans for 737-200'S to be used for new services to Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver starting in June 2002, 3 per week.

May 2002: 2 737-201's (22273, C-FJLB; 21817, C-GNAU), Structures Unlimited leased.

August 2002: 1 737-201 (C-FJLB) has "www.flyairnorth.com" and "Yukon's Airline" on white fuselage. Logo on tail is a blue compass point with "N" above.

February 2007: NAV Canada selected Sensis to supply new surveillance technologies, including up to 200 (ADS-B) units, to areas in the northern part of the country and around Vancouver Harbor and Fort St John that currently do not have surveillance coverage. NAV Canada President & (CEO) John Crichton said the deal will result in "safety and customer efficiency benefits at a much lower cost compared to traditional radar."

January 2008: In 2007 Air North (AND) carried >100,000 scheduled passengers (most flights carry both passengers and cargo).

June 2008: 737-2X6C (23122, C-GANV), ex-Aloha (ALO), ex-(N816AL "KING DAVID KALAKAUA"), AJet leased.

December 2008: Air North (AND) operates scheduled and charter, jet airplane services throughout the Yukon and NW Territories, with extensions to Alberta, British Columbia, and Fairbanks, Alaska.

(AND) employs >200 people in the Yukon, plus operates a base in Vancouver employing 60+ people.
