OPERATIONS IN OCTOBER 1996. PLM REPRESENTATIVES ARE IN INDIA TRYING TO RECOVER THEIR 3 LEASED 737-200'S OK'D BY COURT. (GUI) AND AER LINGUS (ARL) ALSO IN TOWN TO REPOSSESS THEIR AIRPLANES.
OCTOBER 1996: NEGOTIATING WITH (GUI) FOR CONTINUED USE OF 2 737-200'S TO RESUME SERVICE IN NOVEMBER 1996.
NOVEMBER 1996: SUSPENDED OPERATIONS - NO AIRPLANES.
MADE +$228 MILLION 1992 - 1996 FROM OPERATIONS. MANY PRIVATE AIRLINES FOLDED DUE TO HIGH TAXES, PROHIBITIVE AVIATION FUEL COSTS, & STIFF DUTIES ON IMPORT OF AIRPLANE SPARE PARTS.
SEPTEMBER 1997: RENEWED LICENCE TO OPERATE SCHEDULED FLIGHTS IN PROCESS OF ARRANGING FINANCE & LEASING OF AIRPLANES.
JANUARY 1998: 737-200'S (21714; 21715) TO KENYA AIRWAYS (KEN).
HOPE TO RESTART IN MARCH 1998 WITH 2 737-400'S, LEASED AND POSSIBLY 5.
March 2007: 2 F27-500s were recently auctioned off by the Airports Authority of India. The first (VT-EWK) was purchased by the Delhi-based School of Engineering & Technology. It was dismantled and then transported by road to its new home on November 7th, 2006, the entire fuselage section strapped to a 90 ft long low-bed trailer. The 2nd airplane (VT-EWG) was acquired by the Pune-based Indian Institute of Aeronautical Engineering.
