2 717-2CM's (55059, EC-HNY; 55060, EC-HNZ) 5 months wet-leased to GermanWings (RFG). Will operate Cologne/Bonn to Athens, Berlin (SXF), Edinburgh, Lisbon, London Gatwick, Nice, Oslo, Palma de Mallorca, Stockholm, Thessaloniki, and Zurich. The 717's will be evaluated by (RFG) as a possible replacement for the B AE 146's of parent Eurowings.

October 2005: Aerolineas de Baleares (BST) fulfilled the requirements of the (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) program. (BST) is a subsidiary of (SAS) Group and operates on behalf of Spanair (SPP) in Spain using 717s.
(SPP) will increase the frequency on its Barcelona to Lanzarote route to 6 flights a week on October 29th. The airline will operate a flight every day, except Thursdays using a mix of airplanes including the AeBal (BST) 717-200.
June 2007: Spanair (SPP) will take delivery of its seventh 120-seat 717 and its eighth later this month, which it said will enhance service on routes catering to business travelers. The airplanes are powered by Rolls-Royce (BRR715A) engines.
September 2008: Ceased operations.
January 2009: Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) said it sold its holdings in Palma de Mallorca-based Aerolineas de Baleares (BST), which operated five 717s for Spanair (SPP) until the third quarter of 2008, to Proturin of Mallorca. (SAS) lost -SEK200 million on the transaction.
May 2009: Following termination of its wet-lease agreement with parent company Spanair (SPP), Aebal - Aerolineas Baleares (BST) was purchased by Antonio Mata (former CEO of Aerolineas Argentinas (ARG) and renamed "Quantum Air" (BST). The charter company's headquarters have been relocated to the Spanish capital Madrid, although operations remain centered on Palma de Mallorca using four 717-200s. January 2010: Quantum Air (BST) has suspended operations with its five 717-200s on January 26. (BST) blamed its financial problems on hidden debts that (SAS) Scandinavian Airlines did not disclose when it sold AeBal (BST) to the new owners that had re-branded it as "Quantum Air." (SAS) in return claims that it was in fact Quantum Air (BST) that did not pay it for the leasing rates of the 717-200s owned by (SAS).
