COLOMBIA (REPUBLIC OF COLOMBIA) COVERS AN AREA OF 1,138,914 SQ KM, ITS POPULATION IS 43 MILLION, ITS CAPITAL CITY IS BOGOTA, AND ITS OFFICIAL LANGUAGE IS SPANISH.

NOVEMBER 2000: LIETENANT COLONEL JAIRO ACOSTA, DIRECTOR MAINTENANCE & CHIEF OF TECHNICAL INSPECTION.

JANUARY 2001: 1 727-95F & 1 727-200 TRANSFERRED FROM SATENA (STN).

January 2004: Purchases 737-74V BBJ (29272) from the USA Department of Defence (DOD), at Waco, Texas, for $29 Million and spends another $11 Million to upgrade it for presidential use.

September 2010: A series of successful flight tests aimed at opening the flight envelope have been completed for the pre-owned 767-200ER (Extended Range) airplane converted by Bedek Aviation Group of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) to a Multi Mission Tanker Transport (MMTT) configuration for the Colombian government and the end user, the Colombian Air Force. It will be delivered in November.

January 2013: The Colombian Air Force (CLB) has ordered one more Airbus (EDS) Military C295 to add to the five examples already ordered for use on military transport and humanitarian aid duties.

Since accepting its first C295 in 2008, the (CLB) has steadily increased its fleet of the type and now operates four with two more to be delivered. It also operates six Airbus Military CN235-200s and six of the smaller C212.

This latest order brings the number of Airbus Military C295s and CN235s sold this year to 32 and takes total C295 orders to 115, with 93 currently in operation in 15 countries.

August 2015: Airbus (EDS) Defence & Space has been informed that an Airbus CN235 aircraft with 11 people on board was involved in an accident in Las Palomas (Cesar, Colombia) on July 31. The aircraft was operated by the Colombian Air Force (CLB), who confirmed that there were no survivors.

The CN235-200M was delivered in 1998 from the final assembly line in Seville (Spain) in a military transport configuration.
