June 2006: CAL Cargo Air Lines (CRG), which operates scheduled cargo flights carrying perishable goods and general cargo from Israel to Europe and the rest of the world, celebrated its 30th anniversary! The celebration took place at the new "Avenue" congress centre at Airport City with the participation of over >1,000 guests.

The airline was established in June 1976 and started operations on 2nd November 1976. It started as a charter carrier leasing airplanes from El Al (ELA) as required. It began operating scheduled services using its own airplanes from 1st December 1999. It is wholly owned by Israel's Organization of Agricultural Co-operatives. Its main base is Ben Gurion international airport, Tel Aviv and it has hubs at Bierset Airport (LGG), Liege and Schiphol International Airport.

(CRG) has specialized over the years in dealing with perishable and other agricultural products with all infrastructures, such as cold and frozen warehouses and lots of experienced staff for such special cargo building, loading and storage demands.

September 2010: CAL Cargo Air Lines (CRG) operates scheduled, cargo, jet airplane flights, carrying perishables and general cargo to Europe and the rest of the world. Links Tel Aviv with Liege and two flights to both Luxembourg and New York. Other destinations include Amsterdam, Abuja, Budapest, and Cologne.

(IATA) Code: 5C - 700. (ICAO) Code: ICL - (Callsign - CAL).

Parent organization/shareholders: Israel's Organization of Agricultural Cooperatives.

Main Base: Tel Aviv Ben Gurion International Airport (TLV).

Hubs: Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS); & Liege-Bierset Airport (LGG).

International Freight Destinations: Hong Kong; Kiev; Liege; Luxembourg; & New York.

June 2012: CAL Cargo Air Lines (CRG) and (MEA) - Middle East Airlines are reportedly interested in taking over the 69% stake of the government of Cyprus in national carrier Cyprus Airways (CYP). Previously, Canadian investor Triple Alpha had already confirmed its interest in Cyprus Airways (CYP). (CRG) already cooperates with Cyprus Airways (CYP) on cargo services.

March 2013: CAL Cargo Airlines (CRG) received accreditation as a Qualified Envirotainer Provider (QEP) for its Tel Aviv, Liege, and New York (JFK) network. The requirements for (QEP) are based on Chapter 17 of the (IATA) Perishable Cargo Regulations and outline the procedures for handling temperature-controlled containers in international shipping. (CRG) is the only Israeli carrier, and the eighth carrier worldwide, to gain (QEP) accreditation.

July 2014: CAL Cargo Air Lines ((IATA) Code: 5C, based at Tel Aviv Ben Gurion) (CRG) has announced plans to dry lease a 747-400F in addition to acquiring a 747-400ERF as part of its fleet renewal plans. The Israeli freight operator expects the 747-400F to enter service in September with the second 747-400ERF airplane due in November.

Founded in 1976, the El Al Israel Airlines ((IATA) Code: LY, based at Tel Aviv Ben Gurion) (ELA) subsidiary, currently owns and operates two 747-200Fs on flights to Liège and New York (JFK).

CAL Cargo Air Lines (CRG) currently operates 2 747-200F airplanes, and serves 3 countries, 3 destinations, 3 routes, and 3 daily flights.

August 2014: CAL Cargo Air Lines ((IATA) Code: 5C, based at Tel Aviv Ben Gurion) (CRG) plans to upgrade its existing 747-200F cargo fleet with the lease and acquisition of two 747-400Fs. Industry publication "Cargo Facts" reports the leased 747-400F is likely ex-Singapore Airlines (SQC) (26553), while the purchased 747-4EVERF appears to be ex-Jade Cargo International ((IATA) Code: JI, based at Shenzhen) (JDC) 747-4EVCRF (1383-35172, /07 B-2441). Both of these freighters are currently in storage at Victorville.

“We expect the [747-400ERF] freighter to be ready for service in November, giving (CRG) a competitive advantage by transporting cargo to the greatest possible distances around the globe,” said Offer Gilboa, owner and Chairman of The (CAL) Group. “We clearly defined a corporate strategy designed to strengthen our company and enable growth, and this new airplane is central to achieving our goals”.

The upgraded fleet will expand the Israeli cargo carrier’s specialization in the haulage of irregular freight such as oversize and overweight goods, dangerous goods, and live animals.

(CAL) Cargo Air Lines (CRG) currently operates 2 747-200F airplanes, and serves 5 countries, 5 destinations, 6 routes, and 2 daily flights.
