MAY 2002: ACCDT: (EAV) BAC 111-500 (266, /80) CRASHED AFTER TAKEOFF, FROM KANO NIGERIA, AFTER ENGINES LOST POWER, AND HIT HOUSES = 4 SURVIVORS OF 8 (FC)-(CA)/69 PASSENGERS = 149 FATALITIES, INCLUDING 76 KILLED ON GROUND.

THE NIGERIAN REGULATORY AUTHORITY BANS ALL FURTHER BAC 111 FLIGHTS, PENDING AN INQUIRY INTO THE RECENT CRASH. AVIATION MINISTER KEMA CHIKWE STATED THE GOVERNMENT WOULD ALSO START ENFORCING A BAN ON THE USE OF AIRPLANES OLDER THAN 22 YEARS.

November 2002: DC-9-32 (3D-ALN) delivery.

December 2002: 737-2K9 (22504), bought from BCI Aircraft.

April 2003: Is still under threat of losing its Air Operating Certificate (AOC), almost 1 year since BAC 111 accident.

June 2003: 170 employees.

October 2004: 737-275 (23283, 5N-BHA) delivery.

February 2006: Executive Airline Services (EAS) (EAV) resumed operations in Nigeria with flights to Abuja and Jos. This follows 2 weeks of grounding by the NCAA (Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority) after an audit revealed deficiencies. (EAV) has been cleared to operate 737-2K9, registered (5N-BEY).

July 2006: EAS Airlines (EAV) provides regular passenger jet airplane flights within Nigeria and charter flights to neighboring countries. Also provides executive jet services as Executive Airline Services.

Main Base: Lagos Murtala Muhammed Airport (LOS).

Domestic, Scheduled Destinations: Abuja; Enugu; Jos; Lagos; & Port Harcourt.

December 2006: EAS Airlines (EAV) has been acquired by the Nicon Group of Nigeria, and now operates under the "Nicon Airways" brand. The airline currently flies from Lagos to Abuja, Jos, and Owerri, in Nigeria, with a small fleet of 737-200 airplanes. In the longer term, it plans to serve international markets, including long haul flights to London.
