January 2013: FLY Jamaica Airways (FJM) first flight was January 25th 2013 from Kingston Norman Manley International Airport to New York City John F Kennedy (JFK) Airport. (FJM) will operate four flights weekly and services will include two checked bags, free meals on all flights and service in all cabins.

September 2013: Fly Jamaica Airways (FJM) is an airline based in Kingston, Jamaica at the Norman Manley International Airport.

(IATA) Code: OJ. (ICAO) Code: FJM - (Callsign - GREENHEART).

Main Base: Norman Manley International Airport (KIN), Kingston, Jamaica.

Destinations:

* Canada

Toronto - Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) (starts October 8, 2013).

* Guyana

Georgetown - Cheddi Jagan International Airport (GEO).

* USA

New York City - John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK).

October 2013: Fly Jamaica Airways (FJM) began operations back in February 2013 when it started four times weekly flights between Norman Manley International Airport in Jamaica, and New York JFK Airport, using an ex-(ATA) 757. Since then, it has been busy trying to sort out a number of regulatory issues to enable it to grow its route network. At the end of September, (FJM)ís route network expanded to include Georgetown in Guyana, making it the only carrier to link Kingston and Georgetown. (FJM) now also operates non-stop from New York (JFK) to Georgetown, but flights in the other direction currently have to operate via Kingston due to the USA Department of Transportation. In early October, (FJM) will start serving Toronto with non-stop flights in both directions from Georgetown and Kingston.

Analysis of (FJM)ís published schedule indicates the following rotation plan for (FJM)ís sole 757. A total of 17 sectors will be flown each week come mid-October, with four of these accounted for by the two weekly return routes to Toronto. The remaining sectors are Kingston - (JFK) (four), (JFK) - Kingston (three), Georgetown - Kingston (three), Kingston - Georgetown (two), and (JFK) - Georgetown (one). On four nights of the week, (FJM)ís 757 spends the evening in Kingston, as well as all day Saturday. One of the quirks of the schedule is that passengers wanting to travel between Georgetown and Kingston have a choice of three weekly flights, but two of them are on Fridays.

Competition on (FJM)ís network is particularly strong on (FJM)ís North American routes from Kingston, with one USA carrier (JetBlue Airways (JBL)), two Canadian carriers (Air Canada (ACN) and WestJet (WJI)), and another local carrier (Caribbean Airlines (TTA)) providing stiff opposition. Maybe surprisingly, there is no competition on the 2,370 km sector between Kingston and Georgetown.

(FJM) Current routes: Kingston (KIN) - New York (JFK), 3-4x weekly, versus Caribbean Airlines (TTA) 7x weekly, & JetBlue Airways (JBL) 7x weekly; (KIN) - Toronto (YYZ) 1x weekly, versus Air Canada (ACN) 4x weekly, WestJet (WJI) 4x weekly, & (TTA) 3x weekly; (KIN) - Georgetown (GEO) 2-3x weekly; and (GEO) - (YYZ), 1x weekly.

January 2014: Fly Jamaica Airways (FJM), after several delays, finally launched flights on December 17th from Kingston (KIN) in Jamaica and Georgetown (GEO) in Guyana to Toronto Pearson (YYZ) in Canada. Both flights will be operated weekly using (FJM)ís 757s. On Tuesdays flights from Kingston arrive in Toronto before heading for Georgetown, while on Wednesdays the flight arrives in Toronto from Georgetown before taking off for Kingston. Competition on the 4,620 km Georgetown route is provided by Caribbean Airlines (TTA) with twice-weekly flights, but the 2,870-kilometre Kingston route is much more keenly contested, with both Air Canada (ACN) and Caribbean Airlines (TTA) offering five weekly flights and WestJet (WJI) a further two weekly flights.
