Gabon was established in 1960 and covers an area of 267,667 sq km. Its population is 1.5 million, its capital city is Libreville, and the official language is French.
March 2006: Former government owned flag carrier Air Gabon is liquidated.
April 2007: Started commercial flights with a 767-219 (24150, EC-JOZ - see photo), Bravo Airlines (BRV) wet-leased for Libreville - Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG).
May 2007: Gabon Airlines (GBK) is a start-up carrier offering services between Libreville and Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG). Plans to concentrate on African and European services.
July 2007: 2 767-222s (21877, TR-LHP; 21878), ex-United Airlines (UAL), deliveries for routes to France, including Libreville - Paris (CDG).
July 2008: ANA Aviation Services will handle Gabon Airlines (GBK) Cargo in the UK, North America, Scandinavia, and Spain under a (GSA) agreement. (GBK) operates thrice-weekly 767 service between Paris and Libreville, with flights to Marseilles, Johannesburg, and Dubai expected to begin later this year, when it takes delivery of a second 767.
November 2010: Gabon Airlines (GBK) is a private carrier operating a schedule connecting Libreville, Port Gentil, and Point Noire with Paris Charles de Gaulle, Marseilles, and Johannesburg.

Gabon Airlines (GBK) is introducing three new regional destinations: Douala; Malabo; & Sao Tome; to its network. It is also starting a new domestic route from Libreville to Franceville. All flights will be operated by ATR42s.
May 2011: Gabon Airlines (GBK) has elected (ANA) Aviation to serve as its General Sales Agent (GSA) in the UK and Ireland.
