APRIL 2001: 3 737-300'S (PQ365, B-2585; PQ366, B-2584; PQ370, B-2948) TRANSFERRED FROM AIR CHINA (BEJ).

PASSES (CAAC) AIRLINE SAFETY EVALUATION.
NOVEMBER 2001: COMPLETES ITS OWN "5C" MAINTENANCE CHECK ON 737-300 AIRPLANES. PREVIOUSLY WAS DONE BY (AMECO) (BEJ) IN BEIJING.
JANUARY 2002: PENG GUI YUN VP MAINTENANCE & ENGINEERING PROMOTED TO PRESIDENT AND GENERAL MANAGER.
DECEMBER 2002: After 15 years of service, grounds all 4 B Ae 146 airplanes, due to excessive maintenance costs. 2 orders (1/03) 737-300's, (GECAS) (GEF) leased.
February 2004: 2 737-300's to (AMECO) (BEJ) for "D" check, installation of reinforced cockpit door and cabin refurbishment.
February 2006: Chinese domestic airlines flew a record 138 million passengers in 2005, a rise of +15% over 2004 and double the number of 2000. The figure is expected to double again in the next 5 years, according to Gao Geng the Vice Minister of the General Administration of Civil Aviation in China. Cargo and airmail throughput rose +14% to 3.04 million tons in 2005 and also is expected to double in the next 5 years. However, profit margins will remain tight within the sector. He noted revenues in the sector had grown to CNY170 billion/$21.09 billion at the end of 2005, but profits in the past 5 years had amounted to only CNY10 billion.
December 2013: 737-79L (34540, B-5226), ex-(N1787B), delivery and commences operations next month from Hohhot.
January 2014: Air China (BEJ)ís new Inner Mongolian subsidiary is scheduled to launch operations January 8 with Hohhot to Beijing service. The new subsidiary (Air China Inner Mongolia Limited) is expected to enhance Air China (BEJ)ís position in the N China area.
August 2014: Air China (BEJ) plans to spend CNY360 million/$58.4 million to raise pilot (FC) salaries, despite its continuous profit decline. (BEJ) has 4,560 pilots (FC) who work for the Beijing-based carrier and its subsidiaries Air China Cargo (CAO), Beijing Airlines (DER), Dalian Airlines (DLN) and Inner Mongolian Airlines (IML).
