TURKEY: ONCE THE CENTER OF THE OTTOMAN EMPIRE, TURKEY WAS FOUNDED IN 1923 AS A SECULAR STATE WHOSE POPULATION IS OVERWHELMINGLY MUSLIM THOUGH NOT ARAB. November 2002: MNG Airlines (MHK) becomes 51% owner of Istanbul Technic (IST), now a Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MRO) facility, which will be renamed "MNG Technic." (MHK) will move their offices to the (IST) hangar in 1st Q 2003. (MHK) corporate offices are expected to move to the hangar at the end of 2003.

January 2005: Receives (EASA) Part 145 approval authorizing (IST) to perform base and line maintenance on 727-200's, 737-300/-400/-500/-600/-700/-800's, 757-200's, DC-9's. MD-80's, A300's, A320's, & A321's.

June 2005: MD-82 (49490, UR-), bought from Continental Airlines (CAL), by Khors Air (KHO) delivery. Will enter service following a maintenance check by MNG Technic (IST) in Turkey.

September 2005: Focus Aviation (FOS), on behalf of Continental Airlines, arranged the sale of a third MD-82 to Khors Aircompany of Ukraine. Like the first two aircraft, this one will be put through a maintenance check by MNG (IST) in Turkey prior to delivery.

May 2007: (MNG) Technic signed an agreement with Turkmenistan Airlines (TUE) to provide base maintenance services and hangar space for the carrier's 757, 737-300 and 717 fleets.

July 2007: MNG Technic (IST) signed agreements with Ukraine operator UM Air (UKM) for a "C" check on a DC-9 and with British operator Flightline (FKT) for an MD-83 "C" check.

February 2008: MNG Technic (IST) reached agreement with Estonian Air (ENA) to provide line maintenance and technical support for four 737-500s and two 737-300s at Istanbul Ataturk and Antalya.

March 2008: MNG Technic (IST) will perform "C" checks on Air Slovakia (SLO)'s single 737 and 757, as well as UK charter carrier Flightline (FLT)'s only MD-83. Work will begin this month.

June 2008: MNG Technic (IST) reached agreement with Nordic Airways (NOE) to provide "C" checks on the carrier's MD-81. Work is scheduled to begin July 6 at Istanbul Ataturk.

December 2008: MNG Technic (IST) reached a five-year Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MRO) deal with airBaltic (BAU) to provide "C" checks on 737s. The contract also covers (BAU)'s technical training requirements.

March 2009: MNG Technic (IST) won a tender issued by the Turkish airports authority for construction of a new Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MRO) hangar at Istanbul Ataturk. The 64,000-sq-m facility will be built in four phases. Construction of the 16,000-sq-m first phase will begin "as soon as possible," (IST) said. (IST) provides line and heavy maintenance at its (IST) base and line maintenance services at airports in Istanbul and Antalya.

September 2011: MNG Technic (IST) has begun converting three MNG Airlines (MHK) A300-600 airplanes to freighter configuration. MNG Technic (IST) said it will become the first and only (MRO) in Turkey capable of passenger-to-freighter conversion.

October 2012: MNG Technic (IST) completed a passenger-to-freighter conversion of one A300-600 for MNG Airlines (MHK), using a B/E Aerospace Supplemental Type Certificate (STC), conversion kit and on site support.

January 2013: MNG Technic (IST) won a contract from Vueling (VUZ) for "6YE" checks of two A320 airplanes.
