December 2002: Nav Canada is investing # C26M, to enhance air traffic safety by installing new Airport Surface Detection Equipment (ASDE) - a radar-based system that allows air traffic controllers to monitor and direct airplanes and vehicle movements on airport surfaces - over next 3 years at 8 airports across Canada: St John's, Halifax, Quebec City, Montreal Dorval, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Calgary, and Vancouver. (ASDE) is already in operations at Toronto's Pearson Airport.
January 2003: In 3/03, Montreal - Ottawa. Also, Ottawa - Toronto (Pearson International).

April 2004: Launches discount hourly shuttle between Toronto and Montreal between 0700 & 1900 weekdays. Because 80% of the traffic is business related, it is introducing "ComfortPlus", a 16-passenger compartment. In 7/04, Toronto - Quebec City (wkdays). Toronto - Los Angeles (3/week).
2-year, $11.5M follow-on heavy maintenance contract (25 scheduled inspections) to Exel Tech for 14 MD-83's, including MD-83/F 100 line maintenance at Trudeau International.
May 2004: In 6/04, will introduce in-flight entertainment on select flights with 40 APS digEplayer units on each airplane on flights of 3 hours or longer. The digEplayers are roughly the same weight and size as typical portable DVD players and feature pre-programmed video on demand, TV shows, cartoons, videos and music choices with content refreshed every 60 days. Will charge # C$10/$7 to use the units.
