JEAN-MARC JANAILLAC, CHAIRMAN AIR FRANCE (AFA) - (KLM) GROUP & CHAIRMAN AIR FRANCE (AFA) (2016-11) RESIGNED FROM BOTH POSITIONS (2018-05).
PETER HARTMAN, DEPUTY (CEO), VICE CHAIRMAN (AFA) - (KLM) GROUP (2013-07).
BENJAMIN SMITH, AIR FRANCE (AFA) (KLM) CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CEO) (2018-09), EX-(ACN).
Benjamin Smith assumed his new position as Air France (AFA) - (KLM)ís new (CEO) on September 17, bringing to a close a 4 month-period in which the airline group was without a permanent boss after the escalation of a labor conflict led to the departure of his predecessor Jean-Marc Janaillac.
Ben, previously Air Canada (ACN) (COO) & President - Airlines, and the 1st non-French national to head the Franco-Dutch group, was appointed August 16, after a long drawn-out and tense search for a successor to Janaillac who resigned in May. Janaillac had staked his future with the company on resolving a long-running labor conflict with (AFA) employees that had led to 15 strike days earlier in the year.
Ben will be faced with the difficult challenge of calming tensions with (AFA) unions and workers before turning his attention to a longer-term strategy for the group, which launched the Trust Together plan to improve competitiveness with peers and profitability in 2016 under Janaillacís leadership.
