November 1999: As a joint Swiss-Moldovan company, becomes first private airline in Moldova, forming a partnership with Romanian-based Carpatair (KPT).

January 2012: Cirrus Airlines (RUS) has terminated its code share agreement with Air Moldova (MDV) on the Frankfurt International - Chisinau route.
May 2012: Moldavian Airlines (MDV) no longer operates its own scheduled services now that the "open skies" agreement between Moldova and the European Union (EU) is in place. Instead, it just code shares on Carpatair (KRP) services from Chisinau International (KIV) to Milan Orio al Serio (BGY), Rome Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International (FCO), Timisoara Traian Vuia International (TSR) and Venice Marco Polo Tessera (VCE) airports. It has wet-leased its only Saab 2000 (022, ER-SFB) to its parent Carpatair (KRP).
June 2012: Moldavian Airlines (MDV) will launch twice weekly scheduled service from Chisinau to Antalya (AYT) on June 28 with 737-3C1 (29058, YR-ADB). This route will be its only own scheduled service operated under its (2M) (IATA) code.
The Republic of Moldova has signed an air services agreement to make it a full aviation partner of the European Union (EU), gradually integrating the republic into the European common market.
Under the agreement, which still needs to be ratified, Moldova and the (EU) will develop a common aviation area based on common rules in key areas such as aviation safety and security. Moldova will also harmonize its legislation with European standards and implement (EU) aviation rules covering such areas as environment, consumer protection, air traffic management (ATM), economic regulation, competition issues and social aspects.
As a result, all (EU) and Moldovan airlines will be able to operate direct flights between Moldova and anywhere in the (EU) without any restriction on prices or the number of flights to be operated each week. Direct flight connections currently exist between Moldova and 11 (EU) member states (Austria, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Portugal, Romania, Spain, and the United Kingdom).
The European Commission (EC) said: “Air transport is the single most important mode of transport linking the Republic of Moldova to most (EU) member states and has been growing steadily in recent years. It is expected that the agreement will offer more travel opportunities, more direct connections and economic benefits for both sides.”
The agreement is a further step in creating a wider common aviation area between the (EU) and its neighbors, and open aviation areas with other key international partners. Similar comprehensive air transport agreements have already been concluded with the Western Balkan countries, Morocco, Georgia, and Jordan. Negotiations have recently been finalized with Israel, and are ongoing with Ukraine, Lebanon, and Tunisia.
October 2018: "Blue Air has Bought Air Moldova."
Blue Air (BLD) joined a small consortium including 2 Romanian businessmen to buy Air Moldova (MOL), which is the national carrier of Moldova. (BLD) bought the airline for 50 Million Moldovian lei/€2.76 Million/USD $3 million). Included in the deal is (MOL)’s debt.
(MOL) has a fleet of 7 aircraft. It aims to operate 14 planes by 2021. Its new owners (BLD) are planning to keep (MOL)’s 29 destinations and current route schedules.
(BLD) said that they are happy (MOL) has joined the (BLD) family. (BLD) has also commented that they are not planning to make any extensive changes to (MOL), but will rather change (MOL)’s business structure to allow it to make a profit. (BLD) wants (MOL) to be an airline that Moldovians will be proud of and will choose for their travels. Many people do, however, they alsosay that this purchase is without meaning. This could be related to a lack of information on the deal.
Many argue that this purchase was not a good move for (BLD) because (BLD) operates an all Boeing fleet, while (MOL) operates a mix of aircraft. In addition, (BLD) has almost no experience in (MOL)’s market.
