ITALY (ITALIAN REPUBLIC) WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1861, IT COVERS AN AREA OF 301,268 SQ KM, ITS POPULATION IS 58 MILLION, ITS CAPITAL CITY IS ROME, AND ITS OFFICIAL LANGUAGE IS ITALIAN.
December 2004: Launched services, Milan (Bergamo - Orio Al Serio) to Bari, Brindisi, Catania, & Naples. Also, Venice to Barcelona, Bucharest & Madrid. Initially, Volar Airlines (LTE) of Spain and JetClub (JCS), Switzerland operated flights for (MYR) until it could obtain its own Air Operator's Certificate (AOC).

April 2005: 6 former executives of Volare Airlines (VLR) have been arrested and accused of diverting funds to set up a new carrier.
October 2005: MyAir (MYR) will inaugurate nonstop service from Venice to Timisoara on December 1st. The airline will operate 3 flights a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Saturdays, with an A320.
February 2006: MyAir (MYR) has announced the following new routes to be inaugurated on April 13th:
Bergamo to Sofia = 3x a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays);
Bergamo to Timisoara = 3x a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays);
Bologna to Sofia = 3x a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays);
Rome (CIA) to Bucharest = 3x a week (Mondays, Wednesdays & Thursdays);
Venice to Timisoara = 3x a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays);
All flights will operate with A320s.
MyAir (MYR) (8I/Milan Orio al Serio) will operate a twice weekly A320-200 seasonal service between Milan Orio al Serio and Palma de Mallorca between July 21 and September 12.

September 2006: MyAir (MYR) will inaugurate nonstop service from Bergamo to Marrakech on December 7th. The airline will operate 2 flights a week, on Thursdays & Sundays, using an A320.
Myair (MYR) placed an order for 19 CRJ-900s. Should the CRJ-900X program be launched, the airline has an option to convert up to 15 of these orders to that new model. The CRJ-900 airplanes will be operated on domestic and regional routes.
October 2006: MyAir (MYR) will inaugurate nonstop service from Catania to Bucharest Baneasa on December 19th. The airline will operate 2 flights a week, on Tuesdays & Saturdays, using an A320.
MyAir (MYR) will resume service from Bologna to Sofia on February 15th. The airline will operate 3 flights a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays, using an A320.
December 2006: MyAir (MYR) announced 14 new routes as follows:

August 2007: Has acquired a 20% stake in Darwin Airline, and has wet-leased a Saab 2000 from the Swiss regional operator for some of its thinner routes.

October 2007: MyAir (MYR) of Italy will launch twice-weekly Bari - Brussels service on December 20. (MYR) will commence twice-weekly Bari - Amsterdam service on December 15 aboard CRJ-900s.
February 2008: GoAir (GOZ) appointed Edgardo Badiali as CEO. He joins the Indian Low Cost Carrier (LCC) from Italian low-cost airline MyAir (MYR), where he was CEO.

June 2008: MyAir (MYR) is a low cost carrier (LCC) operating services which link a dozen Italian cities in addition to international services to six destinations in France, and two in Spain, plus Bucharest, Istanbul, Marrakech, and Sofia.

November 2008: Fly Holding, the parent company of MyAir (MYR) and Eastern European budget operator, SkyEurope (SKP) are discussing a possible alliance. They have signed a memo of understanding (MOU) to explore a future collaboration, which could ultimately lead to them acquiring a shareholding in each other.
The Greek Ministry of Transport & Communications announced the companies interested in bidding for some or all of Olympic Airlines (OLY), which the government intends to split and sell by year end. Interested in Olympic (OLY)'s flight operations are Athens Airways, Kuwait's Fouad El Ghanim Group, Italy's MyAir (MYR), Qatar Airways (QTA), SkyEurope Airlines (SKP), and US charter services Chrysler Aviation (DCY) and SkyOne. Interested in (OLY)'s ground handling division are Athens Airways, Greek construction firm Ellaktor, Fouad El Ghanim, Goldair, Hellenic Cargo Group, and Swissport. Interested in (OLY)'s maintenance division are: Athens Airways, Iberia (IBE) and Fouad El Ghanim. Twenty-two additional potential bidders requested anonymity, the "Associated Press" reported.
July 2009: MyAir (MYR) suspended all operations following a decision by Italian civil aviation authority (ENAC) to revoke (MYR)'s Air Operator Certificate (AOC) effective July 24. (ENAC) said (MYR)'s service became unreliable owing to persistent financial difficulties and that it failed to meet restructuring-related obligations. (MYR) had been flying on a provisional (AOC) since June 25. It operated scheduled services linking a dozen Italian cities and destinations in Europe and Morocco with a mixed fleet of A320s and CRJ-900s. It commenced operations in December 2004 and had its main bases at Bergamo and Venice.
August 2009: Bombardier Aerospace announced the termination of its firm purchase agreement with MyAir (MYR), which suspended operations last month. The original 2006 order was for 19 CRJ-900s, 15 of which were converted to CRJ-1000s in early 2007. Four CRJ-900s have been delivered. Bombardier said the CRJ-1000 development program "continues to move ahead" and that the first production airplane is flying from its Wichita test base. The airplane has 49 firm orders.
