March 2013: Sriwijaya Air ((IATA) Code: SJ, based at Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta International airport (CGK)) (SJA) is planning to use the twenty E190s it had ordered in 2011 for its new full service carrier, Nam Air (also based at Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta International airport (CGK)) that it plans to launch in the 2nd half of 2013. Sriwijaya itself plans to add 10 additional 2nd hand 737-800s to its fleet during this year to expand its presence in Indonesia's East.
November 2013: Nam Air (Jakarta) (NAM) is a new subsidiary airline created by Sriwijaya Air (SJA). (NAM) is planning to operate 4 former Continental Airlines (CAL) 120-seat Boeing 737-500s. The 1st 737-500 (27535, PK-CMD), was delivered on September 9, 2013. A 2nd 737-500 (PK-NAM) has been painted.
The airline is planning to operate from Jakarta, Denpasar and Surabaya. Nam Air (NAM) will fly the following routes according to local media reports: Jakarta to Sorong, Jakarta to Kupang, Jakarta to Pangkalpinang, Jakarta to Pontianak, Surabaya to Luwuk, Surabaya to Pangkalan Bun, Surabaya to Biak, Surabaya to Denpasar, Denpasar to Waingapu, and Denpasar to Maumere, and Denpasar to Kupang.
According to the "Jakarta Post," (NAM) is planning to launch operations next month. The 1st route will be the Jakarta to Pangkal Pinang route.
December 2013: (NAM) Air, a subsidiary of Sriwijaya Air (SJA) offers similar full-service to its parent but on under-served point-to-point markets. An inaugural flight was operated between Jakarta and Pangkalpinang on December 11th, then commercial revenue service began on December 19th on the Jakarta to Yogyakata and Yogyakarta to Pontianak routes.
February 2014: (NAM) Air added 4 more routes: Surabaya to Denpasar (Bali), Denpasar to Kupang, Denpasar to Maumere, and Denpasar to Waigapu.
December 2015: Sriwijaya Air (SWJ)'s subsidiary, NamAir (NAM) began 7x-weekly, Surabaya to Bandung and Jakarta to Sorong Boeing 737-500 services.
