Xinjiang Airlines (XIJ) will fly two of its ATR72s to Helsinki for heavy maintenance.

July 2006: (SAS) Ground Services renewed its agreement with Novair (NOO) for ground handling services at 15 Scandinavian airports for an additional three years. It also was chosen by bmi (BMA) for ground handling at Chicago O'Hare (ORD).

November 2009: Novair (NOO) A321 Required Navigation Performance (RNP) demonstration flights into Stockholm Arlanda (ARN) over the summer, which were part of the Atlantic Interoperability Initiative to Reduce Emissions, demonstrated "that there are capabilities in modern airplanes that can be used to reduce the environmental load in today's air traffic control (ATC) system," according to a statement issued yesterday by (SESAR) and Airbus (EDS). The European Union (EU) (ATC) modernization program and (EDS) teamed with charter carrier Novair (NOO), Swedish (ATC) provider, (LFV) and (ARN) to operate the 10 flights and collect data. "The flights have demonstrated a lateral standard deviation of 0.01 nm or 22 m, which is less than the wingspan of an A321 . . . [can produce] a total of -518 kg of carbon dioxide reduction compared to an average Instrument Landing System (ILS) approach operated by (NOO)," (SESAR) and (EDS)s said. American Airlines (AAL) also has participated in the Atlantic Interoperability Initiative to Reduce Emissions on flights between Paris Charles de Gaulle and Miami.

May 2013: Aer Lingus (ARL) will wet-lease one of its A330-200s to Novair ((IATA) Code: N9, baed at Stockholm Arlanda (ARN)) (NOO) for the next two winter seasons to operate charter services between Scandinavia and the Caribbean.

December 2013: Dublin Aerospace (DAS) has completed "C" checks on three Nova Airlines (A K A Novair (NOO)) Airbus A321s.

May 2014: Novair ((IATA) Code: N9, based at Stockholm Arlanda) (NOO) has signed a long term lease agreements with the Air Lease Corporation (ALE) for three new Airbus A321neo airplanes, which are scheduled for delivery from 2017 onwards. Once in service, Novair (NOO) will be the first operator of the type in Scandinavia.

Based in Stockholm, (NOO) is owned by Switzerland’s Kuoni Travel Group and using a fleet of three A321-200s, offers charter flights to the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands, as well as long-haul flights to the Caribbean, Thailand, India, and Vietnam.

Airbus ProSky, (AENA), Thomas Cook (GUE)/(JMA), Novair (NOO) and Norwegian Airlines (NWG) have successfully flight tested a new (RNP AR) approach to Runway 21 in Lanzarote in the Canary Islands.

Since November 2012, in the scope of the (SESAR) Atlantic Interoperability Initiative (AIRE), Airbus Prosky and industry consortium comprising (AENA), Air Berlin (BER), Easy Jet (EZY) and Thomas Cook Airlines (GUE)/(JMA) have worked with the Spanish Civil Aviation Authorities (DGAC), to design new procedures at La Palma and Lanzarote airports. The objective of the project has been to implement environmentally friendly approaches that result in track-mile savings, reductions in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Additionally, this project allows the replacement of Lanzarote Runway 21 circle to land procedure by a fully managed and stabilized approach.

In close coordination with local Air Traffic Control (ATC), the first (RNP AR) flight trial was performed by consortium operator Thomas Cook Airlines (GUE)/(JMA) on Runway 21 of Lanzarote Airport. According to a (GUE)/(JMA) captain (FC), “[The trial] was just like the simulator; very accurate track keeping.” A captain from Novair (NOO), performing the trial in an Airbus A321 said: “There was 20-30 kts crosswind, but the flight guidance took the A321 very accurately to 50 ft over the threshold as expected. It was a normal operation."

An air traffic controller from the approach center in the Canarias commented: “I watched directly on the radar screen and the descent was perfect, continuous, without steps until touchdown. It was great! Air traffic controllers are really amazed when they experience their first live trial, seeing the final curved leg, the accuracy overflying the line, the low level of communications needed, etc. Congratulations.”

Paul-Franck Bijou, (CEO) of Airbus Prosky added: “The first flight trial was a full success, with (AENA) members and flight crew (FC) appreciating the approach as a major step towards Performance Based Navigation (PBN) in Spain, that provides higher accessibility and efficiency for Lanzarote airport, while being environmentally friendly and supporting flight safety, by providing highly stabilized approaches.”

Within the context of the "CANARIAS" project, a total 100 trials will be performed up until August 2014, in order to demonstrate daily improvements in airspace operations, airport access and noise emission reduction. The flight trials phase will ease the procedure publication by (AENA) and will pave the way for more (PBN) procedures to be published at various Spanish airports.

June 2015: Switzerland's Kuoni Travel Group says it has sold its tour and travel operations in the Swiss, UK, Scandinavia/Finland, and Benelux markets, to (DER) Touristik, the travel division of Germany's (REWE) Group. The value of the transaction, which includes Swedish charter specialist Novair ((IATA) Code: N9, based at Stockholm Arlanda) (NOO), the Playitas family, and a sports resort on Fuerteventura, has not been revealed though estimates have put it at around CHF125 million/USD133.8 million.

The Kuoni Group announced in January this year that it would be exiting the traditional tour operator business in order to focus on its core business as a service provider to the global travel industry and governments. With the disposal, the Swiss company now consists of three divisions including Global Travel Distribution (GTD), Global Travel Services (GTS), and (VFS) Global.

The acquisition is subject to the approval by the relevant competition authorities in the (EU) and Switzerland and does not include the Swiss group’s tour operators in Hong Kong/China and India, which are to be sold separately.

Overall, the sale is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2015.

August 2017: Sweden-based (CTT) Systems has received an order from Stockholm-based Novair (NOO) to equip 2 A321neos with Zonal Drying Systems. The Zonal Drying System removes moisture from the air between the cabin and the aircraft’s outer skin, preventing water build-up on insulation blankets and condensation.

(CTT) VP Sales & Marketing Peter Landquist noted that it is the 1st Zonal Drying order for an A320neo aircraft. “(NOO) has proven the benefits from mastering the root-cause of condensation when operating their previous A321ceo aircraft equipped with the Zonal Drying System,” he said.

“The systems will be retro-fitted in the [newly delivered A320neo aircraft] to prevent weight gain from accumulated water/ice accretion (which increases fuel and CO2 burn) and to reduce other moisture problems, such as electrical failures.”
