Al-Naser Airlines was considered to be the first private Iraqi airline to receive an Iraqi Air Operator Certificate.

It started its jet air operator business by leasing its airplanes, and operating on a charter and VIP basis.

October 2014: Al-Naser Airlines ((IATA) Code: 6N, based at Baghdad) (NSR) has taken delivery of its first A340-642 (416, 9H-TEQ), formerly with Virgin Atlantic (VAA) as (G-VOGE). The quadjet, which was ferried from Malta to Baghdad on October 18, is on wet-lease from Hi Fly (LXA) subsidiary, Hi Fly Malta, which in turn sourced it from Voltrex Leasing.

According to Hi Fly Malta, the lease agreement is only temporary as its long term plans for the airplane involve its reconfiguration into a 475-seater to be used for Hajj operations.

November 2015: News Item A-1: Al-Naser Airlines ((IATA) Code: NR, based at Baghdad) (NSR)) has wet-leased an A320-200 from Ukrainian firm Dart Airlines ((ICAO) Code: DAT, based at Kiev Zhulyany). "Skyliner Aviation" reported A320-200 (342, UR-CMV) was ferried from Beirut to Baghdad this month. The A320 has since been used on flights from Baghdad and Najaf to Beirut and Istanbul Atatürk.

(NSR), which in the past has been used as a proxy-agent for Iran to acquire aircraft in contravention of international sanctions, also operates one 737-400.

News Item A-2: Al Naser Airlines (NSR) announced it had launched its new route Najaf - Beirut. The route is operating two weekly flights.

(NSR) announced it has launched three weekly flights to Istanbul from Baghdad International Airport.

(NSR) announced it launched daily flights to Erbil and Sulaimaniyah from Baghdad International Airport.

(NSR) plans to operate to Omrah. Operations from Basrah and other Iraqi airports will follow.

The current schedule includes the following:

1. Baghdad - Erbil - Baghdad: Up to 20 flights per week.

2. Baghdad - Sulaimaniyah - Baghdad: Up to 5 flights per week.

3. Baghdad - Istanbul - Baghdad: Up to 3 flights per week.

4. Najaf - Beirut - Najaf: 2 flights per week.

5. Najaf - Erbil - Najaf: 2 flights per week.
