The following was in the Bucharest "The Diplomat" titled "Fly Romania to start operating domestic, international flights as of May 15."

Fly Romania airline, with major shareholder Ovidiu Tender, will start operating domestic and international flights as of May 15, 2014, forecasting 100,000 passengers in its first year of operation, according to the "ActMedia" news agency. The airline will cover several foreign destinations in Italy, Spain, Germany and Turkey.

"Six years ago, I decided to invest in aviation. I bought an airline, and for almost five years, I had the misfortune of having poor management. Today, we are in a position to be able to start commercial flights under this brand new "Fly Romania." For now, we have regular flights to Europe, and to the extent to which these are profitable, we will think of and consider intercontinental flights, too. The second step the airline has in view (following its nomination by the Government of Guinea Bissau as that country's prime national airline), is starting flights linking Europe to South America. What we do here today, we will also do in April next year, in Guinea Bissau," Ovidiu Tender said.

According to the General Manager of Ten Airways (RRM), Catalin Butu, as of May this year, Fly Romania (OTJ) will operate flights from some Romanian airports (Henri Coanda Otopeni, Traian Vuia Timisoara and Danube Delta Tulcea, to six destinations in Italy, Spain, Germany and Turkey. "Last year, we carried more than >300,000 passengers for other airlines in the 7,000 hours operated. This winter, our Ten Airways (RRM) team reached the conclusion that the development of the airline (RRM) requires setting up its own Sales department, which can provide a position in the market for us, not only as a partner of traditional airlines, but also as a regular carrier. We targeted mainly the routes where there is room for one, two or three more operators. Equally, we targeted uncovered new routes. Much of the destinations are new on the Romanian market, such as Hahn Airport, near Frankfurt, or Reus Airport, near Barcelona," said Catalin Butu.

For the domestic flights, tariffs will be flat: EUR 69.90 for flights from Bucharest to Timisoara and EUR 49.90 for flights from Bucharest to Tulcea, while the prices for international flights start at EUR 29.90. Flight tickets can be purchased online from the airline & prime website, http://www.flyromania.com, which is already functional, or from partner agencies.

Ten Airways (RRM) is an airline based at the Romanian capital, which started operating in 2010. So far, it has operated in charter and wet lease systems, which entail renting the airplane and its crew and its other services (ACMI) to be operated in the name of the other company. Among Ten Airways (RRM) prime customers are Blue Air (BLD), Air Moldova (MOL), Aegean Airlines (CRM), Royal Air Morocco (RAM), Air Mediterrannee (AMV) and Blue Panorama (BPA), by wet lease systems, Perfect Tour and Paralela 45 in charter system, respectively."

Fly Romania (OTJ) has begun operating domestic and international flights with services from Timisoara to Bucharest (6x-weekly) and Verona (3x-weekly).

(OJT) operates from three Romanian bases (Timisoara Traian Vuia International, Henri Coanda International in Otopeni, and Danube Delta Tulcea Airport) and fly to a number of destinations in Italy, Spain, Germany, and a charter service to Turkey.

Flights will be operated using MD-82 and MD-83 airplanes belonging to Ten Airways (RRM), an airline established at the Romanian capital, Bucharest in 2010. To date, Ten Airways (RRM) has operated only charter and wet-lease services.

Ten Airways (RRM) (CEO), Catalin Butu said: “Initially, we will add routes serving classic destinations with a well-defined application, like Bucharest - Timisoara as well as international destinations like Timisoara - Verona. In the future, we intend to expand our network and we are already in advanced talks with more airports to be able to serve new destinations, both domestic and international departures from Timisoara.”

Timisoara Airport General Manger, Daniel Idolu said: “We believe this collaboration between Fly Romania (OTJ) and Timisoara International Airport will bE good for passengers. We want the announced routes to be just the first of many and hope the airline will add other destinations soon.” He said the airport wants to develop direct links with cities around the world and attract new airline operators, and to develop airport infrastructure and services to the “highest international standards.”

Fly Romania (OTJ) successfully commenced operations on May 15 with flights from Bucharest Otopeni to Tulcea using an MD-83 (49950, YR-OTY), operated by parent Ten Airways (RRM). The Romanian low cost carrier (LCC) (OTJ) also began flights to Milan Orio al Serio, Verona, Frankfurt Hahn, and Genoa on May 16 with future plans to serve Antalya and Barcelona El Prat in June.

Both Ten Airways (RRM) and FlyRomania (OTJ) are owned by Ovidiu Tender, the (CEO) of Romanian prospecting company, Prospectiuni, which works with Romanian clients such as oil and gas companies Petrom, Romgaz and Rompetrol, as well as with clients from Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
