April 2006: Precision Conversions, Portland, Oregon, USA, signed a deal with Cygnus Air (REI) of Spain for one 757-256F freighter conversion plus one option. The airplane will enter the conversion process in July. (REI) provides cargo services to Iberia (IBE) with three DC-8s. Precision also will convert two 757-256s to freighters under an agreement with Babcock & Brown Aircraft Management (BBB). The contract calls for "multiple options" on future 757-200 conversions, Precision said. Operators for the airplanes were not disclosed.
April 2007: Precision Conversions said Spain's Cygnus Air (REI) exercised one option for an additional 757-256 freighter conversion. Work will begin in August. (REI), which provides scheduled cargo service to Iberia Airlines (IBE), already operates one Precision Conversions 757-256PCF.
May 2007: Iberia (IBE) Maintenance signed a five-year deal with Cygnus Air (REI) to maintain and repair the freight operator's 757s.

September 2008: Iberia (IBE) Maintenance announced deals with (GE) Aviation (GEC), SR Technics (SWS), and Gestair (REI). It signed a Memo of Understanding (MOU) with (GE) to become the preferred regional fulfillment center for (CFM56-5A) engines Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MRO) in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. (IBE) will enter into an "OnPoint" solution agreement with (GE) for material and services. Under the agreement with (SWS), Iberia (IBE) will repair and overhaul (SWS) components from various airplane fleets in Madrid, while (SWS) provides (MRO) on (CFM56-5C)s powering (IBE)'s A340-300s. It is the first deal between the companies. Madrid-based, corporate aviation enterprise Gestair (REI) will partner with (IBE) to establish CorJet Maintenance Europe, a 50/50 joint venture providing line and scheduled maintenance, as well as unscheduled Airplane on Ground (AOG) work on corporate airplanes and logistical support and spare parts. CorJet reached a deal with Gulfstream to be an official (MRO) provider on all its models, and expects to be providing maintenance services to some 350 airplanes annually within five years of launch.
November 2008: Iberia (IBE) and Gestair (REI) have created "CorJet Europe," a jointly-owned venture specializing in the maintenance of corporate airplanes. Based at Madrid Barajas airport, it will provide line and scheduled maintenance tasks.
February 2010: Gestair Cargo (REI) has retired its last DC-8-73F freighter in late 2009. The airplane registered (EC-IGZ) was the last DC-8 still in operation by any European carrier.
