June 2003: Royal Jet (RJT) is a joint venture of Abu Dhabi Aviation and Amiri Flight (ABD).
1 737-7Z5 BBJ (A6-RJZ), wet-leased to Gulf Air (GUL) for Abu Dhabi - Geneva (weekly).
July 2004: 2 orders (April 2005) Bombardier Challenger 300's. 737-700 BBJ delivery.
June 2005: 70 employees (including 20 Flight Crew (FC); 10 Cabin Attendants (CA); & 10 Maintenance Technicians (MT)).
August 2005: 737-7Z5 (29268, A6-AIN) acquired from Amiri Flight (ABD).
September 2007: Royal Jet (RJT), the United Arab Emirates government-owned executive flight services company has added a 5th Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) to its fleet. The deal, financed by First Gulf Bank, is thought to make (RJT) the world's biggest (BBJ) operator. (RJT) Chief Executive, Shane O'Hare said: "Each of our (BBJ)s is typically flying around 1,300 hours each year. They are based all over the world, not limiting themselves purely to local markets. They can be found in Africa, China, India, North America and Europe, and are a highly popular and cost effective choice for businesses not wishing to be tied down by restricted flight times offered by commercial airline companies."
The (BBJ) is a derivative of Boeing (TBC)'s Next Generation 737-700 series. It can be arranged in multiple configurations to carry between 36 and 52 passengers, including the option of having a private bedroom aboard, a conference/dining area, and a living area in the most common layouts. It has a maximum range of 10,170 km/5,500 nm at altitudes of <41,000 feet/12,500 m.
(RJT) operates 12 fixed-wing airplanes and a VIP helicopter. It also operates Royal Med, its air ambulance division, and the (RJT) fixed-base operations/VIP terminal at Abu Dhabi International airport.
November 2007: Royal Jet (RJT) acquires a Gulfstream GIV-SP as it expands its management and charter fleet. (RJT) is the Middle East's largest private jet operator with a 16% market share. Plans 25% growth this year.
March 2008: Plans to double its fleet to >20 airplanes by 2013. Royal Jet (RJT) forecasts a +40% annual increase in the Middle East business aviation sector over the next 5 years, with Saudi Arabia, followed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) "driving the momentum." (RJT) currently has 60 pilots (FC), almost all of them expatriates. October 2008: Abu Dhabi International's 2nd runway is operational following completion of construction in early September. The new AED1 billion/$272.1 million, 4,100-m runway is located 2 km north of the 1st runway. The project includes development of the airstrip, 2 major taxiways, 2 cross-field taxiways, and 2 fire stations.
November 2008: Royal Jet (RJT) is teaming up with Jordanian operator Arab Wings on an airplane management deal in a move that could signal more consolidation in the region - - SEE ATTACHED ARTICLE - - "RJT-NEWS-2008-11."
(RJT) is undertaking a comprehensive interior upgrade of its fleet of 6 737-7Z5 BBJ business jets. Work on the 1st refurbishment, due to be completed in early 2009, will be carried out by Genesis Holdings, Canada through its subsidiaries DRB Aviation Consultants and Goderich Aircraft. "By the time we have upgraded our entire BBJ fleet, the investment is likely to be >$50 million," said Shane O'Hare (CEO).
March 2014: Royal Jet (RJT), the Abu Dhabi-based luxury flight services company, has announced that the 1st phase of its new base at Al Bateen Executive Airport is scheduled for completion in late 2015.
The land allocated by Abu Dhabi Airports will be home to (RJT)'s hangar to accommodate airplanes, maintenance facilities; Medevac and its administration headquarters.
As part of the project's 1st phase, (RJT) will build a 4,500 sq m hangar in addition to a 5,000 sq m facility to include administration, workshops, spares storage and a training center.
Shane O'Hare, Royal Jet (RJT) President & (CEO), said: "Royal Jet (RJT)'s operational base at Al Bateen Executive Airport is a reflection of the consistent and continuous upward growth that the private jet industry has experienced in the last few years. "This move to a new facility, along with the (UAE)'s overall aviation strategy, is in line with Abu Dhabi's 2030 Vision. Additionally, it complements our (FBO) facility at Abu Dhabi International Airport, customer demand and industry needs."
In November, (RJT) said it will completely renew its fleet by the year 2020, which will reach a total value of US$700 million at current list prices.
The announcement came on the second day of the Dubai Airshow 2013 where Royal Jet (RJT) also unveiled the new livery of its current fleet.
(RJT) is jointly owned by Abu Dhabi Aviation, a publicly listed company on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange. Headquartered in Abu Dhabi, (RJT) is chaired by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, who also serves as a Minister in the (UAE) Federal Cabinet.
March 2015: SR Technics (SWS) has won a a 5-year (MRO) contract from Royal Jet (RJT) for (CFM56-7B) engines on 6 Boeing 737-700s.
September 2016: 737-77W (62467, A6-RJV), ferried Hamburg to Norwich England for painting after cabin outfitting.
November 2016: 737-77W (62468, A6-RJU), ferried Hamburg to Abu Dhabi for entry into service (EIS).
