October 2008: INCDT: Rutaca (RUC) 737-2H4 (23055, YV162T) came off the left side of runway 28R on landing at Caracas on October 16th and came to rest in a tail high attitude with its nose gear stuck in a drainage ditch. At the time of the incident, the airplane was operating a flight from San Antonio with 47 passengers and 7 crew (C)/(CA) aboard. The passengers were evacuated via the emergency slides and no injuries were reported.

June 2013: Aeropostal - Alas de Venezuela (LAV) along with Aserca Airlines (SEZ), Avior Airlines (VIO), Estelar Latinoamerica (RSV), Laser Airlines (LSR), and Conviasa (VCV) have all announced plans to replace their ageing DC9s, 737-200s and 727s in line with a (NOTAM) issued by Venezuela’s National Institute of Civil Aviation (Instituto Nacional de Aeronáutica Civil - INAC) that will prohibit operations of those airplane types in the country from November 1, 2013.
Aeropostal (LAV) will replace its two remaining DC-9-50s with three ex-Alitalia (ALI) MD-82s. Aserca (SEZ) will replace its last four DC-9-30s with four ex-AeroMéxico (AMX) MD-83s and MD-87s. Avior (VIO) is in the process of adding three 737-400s and six Fokker F 50s to its fleet to replace its fleet of seven 737-200s. Estelar Latinoamerica (ESV) has added a first ex-Seagle Air (CGL) 737-300, (23773, N773KR), as a first step towards replacing its four 737-200s. Laser (LSR) plans to add more ex-American Airlines (AAL) MD-82s to replace its three DC-9-30s. State owned carrier, Conviasa (VCV) has taken delivery of three brand new EMB-190s, though it continues to operate two 737-200s. However, there is no information regarding either the future of Rutaca Airlines (5R, Ciudad Bolívar) and its fleet of 737-200s or that of Vensecar Internacional (VEC) and its fleet of four 727Fs operating for (DHL), is known.
October 2013: Rutaca Airlines (RUC) is reportedly going to be the recipient of the two remaining 737-200s and three 737-300s of Venezuelan national carrier Conviasa ((IATA) Code: V0, based at Caracas Simón Bolivar) (VCV) as the latter takes delivery of additional new EMB-190s. Conviasa (VCV) currently already operates six of the Embraer EMB-190 regional jets alongside its fleet of 737s, two ATR72-200s and three CRJ-700s. (VCV) plans to retire its 737 fleet, allowing Rutaca (RUC) to renew its fleet of nine 737-200s, the vast majority of which are currently grounded for maintenance.
Rutaca (RUC) currently serves 2 countries, 10 destinations, and 10 routes.

August 2015: News Item A-1: The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has suspended Aeropostal - Alas de Venezuela ((IATA) Code: VH, based at Caracas Simón Bolivar) (LAV) from selling tickets via its Billing & Settlement Plan (BSP) systems as of last week. The (BSP) allows for the settlement of financial transactions between travel agents and airlines.
Venezuela's Ultimas Noticias said (IATA) (ITA) undertook the move after (LAV) reportedly failed to make payments related to processing and administrative costs. Fellow carrier, Rutaca Airlines ((IATA) Code 5R, based at Ciudad Bolívar) (RUC), is faced with similar sanctions though no official announcement has yet been made.
