December 2002: 727-31C (19929) returned to United Parcel Services (UPS).

October 2003: The European Commission (EC) asked the Danish government to investigate the ties between (UPS) and Star Air (SDK). This was instigated by a complaint from "Deutsche Post." It wants the Danish authorities to make sure (SDK) is a European-controlled entity. Although (SDK) is a subsidiary of Danish shipping group, Moeller-Maersk, the (EC) cites complaints claiming almost all of its economic activities are generated by (UPS), which allegedly is responsible for (SDK)'s fleet, flight crews (FC), technical support and maintenance. Should the Danish government or the (EC) decides this relationship constitutes effective control, the authorities could revoke (SDK)'s air operator's certificate (AOC). The "Deutsche Post" action is viewed as retaliation for efforts by (UPS) and FedEx (FED) to have Astar Air Cargo (DHL), formerly (DHL) Airways, decertified as a USA carrier because all of its flying is done on behalf of "Deutsche Post"'s (DHL) Worldwide Express unit, which used to own 25% of (DHL). The USA Department of Transportation (DOT) is still in the midst of the investigation to determine whether Astar (DHL) complies with USA citizen requirements.

727-22C (19102, N943UP) returned to (UPS).

(SDK) continued to operate 4 routes with 4 757-200Fs.

October 2008: Copenhagen Airports (CPH) will construct a low-cost carrier (LCC) terminal designed to "provide new opportunities for growth for the airlines during these difficult times and more cheap fares to choose from for the passengers," (CEO) Brian Petersen said. Passenger charges for airlines using (CPH) "SWIFT" will be half those applied to carriers using Kastrup's main infrastructure. Airlines wanting to fly "SWIFT" will have to meet a number of efficiency requirements, including a 30-minute turnaround, while passengers will be expected to check in mainly via the Internet, a mobile phone or at self-service kiosks. The (LCC) terminal will be an extension of existing facilities and have 6 airplane stands, with an initial capacity of 6 million passengers annually, and the potential to double that if the need arises. Passengers will use (CPH)'s central security checkpoint and the existing baggage sorting system, helping to keep construction costs at around DKK200 million/$36.3 million. Construction is expected to commence in early 2009 and operations are expected to start in the summer of 2010.

March 2009: Delta (DAL) TechOps announced an 8-year, $55 million power-by-the-hour contract extension with Star Air (SDK) covering Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MRO) on the 22 (CF6-80A2/C2) engines powering (SDK)'s 11 767-200SFs. The deal also includes Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) and component support.

It is dry-leased from Guggenheim Aviation Partners (GUG).

Founded in 1987, Star Air (SDK) is a part of the A P Moller-Maersk Group.
