December 2006: Embraer delivered the first EMB-170 (00151, FAC1180), ex-(PT-SEP), to Colombia's state-owned Satena (STN), which currently operates five EMB-145s. A second EMB-170 will be delivered early next year. They will be used to fly to international, regional airports in Ecuador, Panama, and Venzuela.

November 2010: ATR42-500 (522, OY-PCN), delivery.

March 2012: Satena (STN) has put its first ATR72-500 into service and is mainly using it on the Bogotá El Nuevo Dorado International airport (BOG) - Medellín Olaya Herrera airport (EOH) route where it competes with Avianca (AVI), Copa Airlines (COP) and (LAN) Airlines serving Medellín José Maria Córdova International airport (MDE) with A320 and 737NG airplanes at a much higher frequency.

May 2012: Sabena Technics (SAB) subsidiary, Barfield has extended a full support contract with SATENA (STN) to include an additional three ATR42-500 and ATR72-500 airplanes. Barfield will provide nose-to-tail component support, including engines Line Replaceable Units (LRU)s and propellers, pool access and main base inventory located in Bogotá, Colombia.

December 2013: Satena ((IATA) Code: 9R, based at Bogotá) (STN) has officially taken delivery of South America's first fleet of three Y12E turboprop airplanes from China's Harbin Aircraft Manufacturing Corporation (Harbin). A purported "gift" from the Chinese government, the Y12s will be used to open up new routes to what were previously inaccessible areas such as Mompox.

Satena (STN) currently operates 11 airplanes to 1 country, 33 destinations on 46 routes and 73 daily flights.

August 2014: SATENA (STN), the Colombian government-owned carrier, added two new domestic links to Tumaco (TCO) on August 25th from Bogota (BOG) and Cali (CLO). Both routes are operated daily, utilizing a mixed fleet of (STN)ís 47Y-seat ATR42-500s and 49Y-seat ERJ 145s. While the 605 km route from Bogota will face no competition, the new airport pair from Cali, at 327 km is already served by Avianca (AVI) with twice-daily flights.
