March 2013: The Sinotrans Air Transportation Development Company plans to transfer its 51% stake in Grandstar Cargo International Airlines (GSC) to China’s UniTop (UNT) as (GSC)’s liquidation process begins.
The financially troubled Grandstar Cargo (GSC), the joint venture (JV) launched by Sinotrans Air, Korean Air (KAL) and Hana Daetoo Securities in 2007, has suspended operations. Last year, it reported a net loss of -CNY244.75 million/-$39 million.
The UniTop Group (UNT), a Chinese logistics enterprise founded in 1998, stuck a restructuring deal with Jade Cargo (JDC) in March 2012. It later abandoned the plan owing to the “unpredictable” restructuring costs related to the disparity of the fleet of the 2 carriers.
April 2014: Uni-Top Airlines ((IATA) Code: UW, based at Wuhan) (UNT) is to convert 4 A300-600s into A300-600Fs following their purchase from China Eastern Airlines (CEA). The airplanes are believed to be part of a bigger order of 7 A300s, the other 3 of which will also will be converted.
With a fleet of 3 747-200Fs, Uni-Top (UNT) also owns a 747-4B5F (SCD) (26401, B-2427), acquired from GrandStar Cargo International Airlines ((IATA) Code: GD, based at Tianjin) (GSC) after its takeover last year, though it has yet to deploy the type into revenue service. It offers cargo flights throughout China as well as to SE Asia, India, and the Middle East.
May 2015: 6 A300B4 (707, B-2318, 725, B-2324; 732, B-2319; 741, B-2317; 754, B-2326; 763, B-2330), EX-(F-WWAU; F-WWAR; F-WWAS; F-WWAT; F-WWAY; F-WWAH), deliveries.
February 2016: Air France Industries (AFI) - (KLM) Engineering & Maintenance (E&M) is launching its Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MRO) Lab Singapore. Partnering with (RAMCO) Systems, the Lab will develop innovative (MRO) products. And Dennis Wetjens is now Managing Director at (EPCOR), the (AFI) - (KLM) (E&M) subsidiary specializing in (MRO) of pneumatic systems and Auxiliary Power Units (APU)s. Also, (AFI) - (KLM) (E&M) and Uni-Top Airlines (UNT) have signed an agreement for support of (CF6-80C2)s on 7 A300B4s. The contract includes repair and overhaul of engines, along with spare engines. A total of 14 shop visits have been scheduled to date.
September 2016: A300B4-605R (732, B-2319 converted to freighter at Dresden, Germany.
January 2017: A300B4-622RF (732, B-2319) ferried Dresden - Guangzhou after cargo conversion.
